Getting Started!

Beginning this journey has been daunting. Trying to find time to write, edit, brainstorm, create a website and promote my own work is a LOT. But it's a start. And I'm doing it. And that's what counts.

No matter how many times I start a phrase, or even a thought, only to be interrupted by tiny voices screaming for me, somehow I try again. Not without a lot of complaining on my part and everyone else's. And trying to make my writing a career while my twins start Kindergarten (eek!) and my toddler destroys everything in her path was definitely a choice on my part. My timing is impeccable. My stress level is high. My husband is PATIENT.

I'm excited to see my words available for everyone, even if I'm also terrified. And now that my novella is also a paperback, I am going to hold something I wrote in my hands! It's amazing to think about.

I've been creating these stories for almost ten years now. It started with the phrase "Amnesia." That opening line hasn't lasted over the time span that I've been editing the first novel, but it sparked the ideas that followed. Things were rough at first, with barely an idea of how my own creation worked, what the magic system was, who the people actually were. But I've fleshed everyone and everything out to my own satisfaction. And I'm proud of what I've made.

Hopefully I can share this journey with more people. My friends and family are wonderful supporters, but my aspirations are larger than the circle of people I love. Maybe some day I can live up to my own expectations.
